Technical Assistance Consultants
Berkshire-Pioneer RC&D and the Mass Farm Energy Program have retained the following energy consultants who will work with farmers to assess their energy needs. Applicant farmers should not contact these consultants directly for MFEP audits or assessments, but should complete the on-line application for MFEP Audits & Incentives in order to be assigned a consultant.
John Bartok - has expertise in greenhouse and nursery design, energy conservation, audits, environmental control, mechanization, and safety. Bartok has developed an extensive library of resource materials and consults for UMASS extension, NRCS, and greenhouse operations located in the Eastern U.S. John Bartok is located in Ashford, CT.
EnSave - has performed agricultural energy audits for over 2,000 farms across the United States since 1991, and has expertise in all areas of agriculture including dairy, livestock, crops, greenhouses, orchards, irrigation, food processing, refrigeration, aquaculture and maple syrup. EnSave has been recognized by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) as a 2005 "Champion of Industrial Energy Efficiency" for their work in the design and delivery of energy efficiency programs for America's farms. EnSave has offices in Richmond VT, Hanover MA, and California.

Fuss & O'Neill - has their primary farm expertise in dairy, greenhouse, crop, egg, turf, and composting facilities. They also have experience in manure digestion, alternative energy systems for greenhouses located in the Eastern U.S, and co-generation. They have authored a guidance manual for First Pioneer Farm Credit to assist New England greenhouse growers in assessing alternate energy projects, and are experienced with regulatory compliance, permitting, energy conservation, and renewable energy. Fuss & O’Neill is located in West Springfield, MA as well as other Eastern state offices.

GDS Associates - is a multi-service consulting and engineering firm formed in 1986 and now employs a staff of over 100 in five locations across the U.S. GDS has primary expertise in dairy, crop, irrigation, greenhouse, and grain, and is developing expertise in other agricultural sectors, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and utility distribution services, Wisconsin Focus on Energy Program, NRCS Energy Estimator Tools. GDS is located in Wisconsin & New Hampshire.

Nexamp - has a primary farm expertise that includes assessment and installation of solar and wind projects for vegetable, orchard, nursery, greenhouse, and livestock operations. They also have energy efficiency experience in lighting, pumps/motors/compressors, controls, refrigeration, heating and cooling, ventilation, and building envelope. Nexamp is also developing additional expertise in the energy efficiency agricultural sectors. The company is located in North Andover, MA.
